Over ten hours in and I’m still hooked. Maybe I need to listen to what the community thinks about specific games rather than just dismissing some titles as simply ‘not for me’.

I’ve had a little confusing issue with autosaving though. I’ve been manually saving it before I turn it off but the power cut out earlier. I started it up to the exact point I left it at but after finishing that mission, I found the map telling me to repeat multiple missions again. It shouldn’t stop me carrying on as a lot of them were assignments and not main story missions but it’s still a little disheartening knowing I’ll have to repeat them.

The only thing that’s turning me off is that the combat just isn’t interesting enough. I never knew that when I first played Rainbow Six Vegas (Yes, I played that before Gears – they came out at the same time anyway) that the whole cover based combat would become the norm for video games. The problem is that it’s becoming a chore to early on, I now find ignoring whether a decision is good or bad and make the one that would possible avoid combat. Bad, isn’t it?

Not that the combat is the appeal, its the stories, characters and locations that are keeping me hooked, although the latter has started to disappoint recently. I’m finding more and more places are looking like Gears of War rather than the Blade Runner inspired Omega. Boy, I miss Omega – I might go back their just to enjoy the neon signs.

Well that’s it for now, I’ve got crew members to recruit.
