moleskine

I’m still trying to figure out why I’m doing this #oneaday one a blog post a day. I frequently have ideas for articles that I either don’t have the time for, or ideas that will result in too short or scattershot posts. This blog would be an ideal place for the latter but ever since I signed up for this scheme those ideas have bolted.

I’m thinking of buying an additional Moleskine journal for me to write down any self-indulgent thoughts or queries while I’m not thinking about writing. That way when I come back to the screen I’ll at very least have a list of illogical thoughts to dump into a word document. That will be vaguely entertaining right?

Maybe I’ll post some theorems on Monopoly or Darts. Those are pretty much the two things I’m getting into at the moment. What is weird is that no video game, maybe bar Tetris, has had the long lasting appeal of these traditional games. I wonder if in sixty years or so we’ll still be playing Modern Warfare 2 or Peggle? Probably not, unless I’m still struggling on those latter spec ops levels.

One A Day…

bandwagon-2

Bandwagons are fun. Ask any Manchester City fan, and he’ll tell you the same, that is if he isn’t too busy hiding his Chelsea shirt. So in that spirit I’m deciding to jump on fellow writer, Andy Kelly’s bandwagon. The concept is simple, blog at least once a day for an entire year. I thought I’d do something like this for 2010 with designing something every day as previously noted last week. It looks like that one is off the cards.

Nevertheless, I will be giving it ago since some very big decisions are being made as of late (none of which I can reveal) and I’ll probably wind up with a load more free time. I’ll probably end up blogging about TV, Gaming, Design, Music and the rest of it. You know things that a majority of people on the internet like. I might even blog about Football but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

I’m also going to make a resolution of 1028×720.

Hilarious jokes aside, I’ll be making a serious resolution of not re-designing Blogizzle at all during 2010. I’ve learnt a lot by constantly re-designing websites, mainly proficiency in CSS & HTML, but re-designs aren’t always necessary, as Smashing Magazine recently taught me.

So here’s to 365 more posts throughout 2010. Well 364 if you include this one.. actually 363 because of yesterdays post…

Ribbons!

old

I’ve spent the last few days trying to teach someone html, css and a little bit of WordPress influenced PHP. It’s been interesting but it gave me the urge to redesign Blogizzle from the picture that’s above, to what you see now.

You’ve probably noticed all the ribbons and Baskerville, looks like a classy joint now.

Chances are I’ll be posting a lot in the next few months as uni starts again, namely design and a few videos.

Ahhh.. I really hate making these ‘update’ posts. Just feels like filler until something interesting happens. I guess this is the 100th post on Blogizzle, not sure if that counts for something.

vStick 2.0.3 Release

20th

August 2009

I guess I’m running out of things to post about on here. No surprise their considering the that fact I’m back at home during the summer. The one thing I have been working on, and by working on I mean I’ve made a few changes today, is vStick.

I’ve been using vStick as my own file uploader for a while and offered the source code for download when I originally made it in 2007. I’ve started to use it a bit more often now I’ve had files to send but occasionally some pesky kids keep deleting files on it. So I made some changes…

What’s been added? Since the original version I’ve been through a few personal updates that haven’t be available for download until now.

The major feature is password protection, now your vStick’s upload page is password protected meaning that only you can access the file list and most importantly only you can delete files. You can add as many users as you would like or you could change it so it’s just a password prompt. Automatic time outs along with stored cookies and a logout button are also present.

We’ve also got a new brown and blue look for the code, just to make it look like a new version.

We’ve added a seperate about page that details what a vStick is.

A minor feature that’s been a long time coming is now you can upload files of the same name. Instead of throwing up an ‘This file already exists’ error, vStick adds a random five digit number to the end of the file name.

The code has generally been cleaned up to make it load faster.

Sounds good? Check out more, including the download here.

The Award Winning..

14th

May 2009

Thought this would be a good time to brag about my recent ‘Helvetica Award‘ for HelvetigenresforiTunes.

Seems werid that the first design-ish award I win at uni is something that I intended to not publish. Actually it wasn’t really a uni project at all. Weird

In other news graphicdesignforhumans.com which is an evolution of an earlier blog post is coming soon.
