Guitar Hero Setlist

11th

January 2008

I’ll stop with the games posts, I promise. I’ve been neglecting the other areas of the site. As much as I could, I don’t want to make this blog about games only. But at the moment thats all thats happening.

I read Jeff’s Guitar Hero Post  the other day and thought everyone else does one. Should I? probably not, I planned one on the first every wordpress powered Blogizzle about 10 months ago but never got around to it, so here it is!

Arctic Monkeys – Brianstorm
Art Brut – Good Weekend (Go Guitar Go!)
Audioslave – Sound of a Gun (The solo is good in this)
Babyshambles – Fuck Forever
Beatsteaks – As I Please
Dirty Pretty Things – You Fucking Love It
Feeder – Lost & Found (Why is their no Feeder in GH yet)
The Futureheads – Crash (see link)
Good Shoes – All In My Head (The solo part is crazy)
Graham Coxon – Standing On My Own Again or You & I or Freaking Out (Would be a DLC Pack) :)
Kings of Leon – Four Kicks
Motion City Soundtrack – Captial H
Queens Of The Stone Age – I Never Came (Only one that i could think of that hadn’t been done)
The Rakes – Retreat
The Strokes – Vision Of Division (would need star power on this one)
We Are Scientists – Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt
The White Stripes – Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine
The Young Knives – She’s Attracted To

I tried to get some Maximo Park & Hadouken in their somewhere but until they bring out a keyboard for rock band (maybe) then they won’t be the same. I also know this is the most obscure list of songs for this type of game, but I’d buy them all easily, thats why I picked them.

What would you guys like to see in Rock Band / Guitar Hero.

Welcome To The Galaxy

Sorry guys its another Games Post today, but its one that I don’t want to make because I’ve been busy playing. Let me Explain…
So today I finally decided that although £35 is too much for Mario Galaxy, If it made me play my Wii some more then it was worth it. After not finding it in Game, Gamestation or another local games shop (who all decided, not to put a sold out thing in their top 10 charts, but did decide to not acknowledge that the game even came out). I went to Toys ‘R Us, its where the cool guys go, I picked up the last copy and busted it on when I got home.

Mario is back. To be fair, I can’t tell you how good this game is. Its easily one of the best games of 2007, maybe even the best. Mario has been reinvented, its the same but its different, its familiar but its unique, its awesome but it excellent.

You take control of Mario and the Princess gets captured by Bowser, this sounding familiar? You then have to collect a bunch of coins and stars to ultimately beat Bowser , this sounding familiar? You also walk around spherical planetoids in the middle of space each with its own different unique challenge or task, that only takes a minute or two tops, you then fly to the next planet, now I know this isn’t sounding familiar. If you can imagine the bonus levels from Mario Sunshine. Did you ever say I wish their was a full game just of these fun little levels. Well maybe not because those where way to hard but these arn’t hard they are just fun. It is those bonus levels + planetoid sections + Wii controls + Space and the answer is excellence. It has a just-one-more-star approach to it because they are just short fun, enjoyable levels.

If anyone who has a Wii has found them selfs just playing Wii Sports with friend, here is your saviour. Wipe off your Wii, Find some working batterys and enjoy the best game on the wii, the best game of 2007 and the best Mario game (maybe) .

Better then Mario64, well if it isn’t it comes pretty damn close. Now I’ve got more Stars to get.

Excuse the bad title name, its the subtitle of Guitar Hero 3. WOW what a coincidence thats what this post is about!

In case you didn’t know this year the creators of the annual skateboarding fest that is the Tony Hawk series took over from Harmonix (the old team) in making Guitar Hero games. Fair enough Guitar Hero has lasted 2 and a half games and its been fine. Really what is there to mess up? Pick a decent song list and I’ll be happy.

They did pick a decent song list and the game has its highs. I found a lot of new songs I have never heard of, and I enjoyed most of them. Its towards the end of the game that it falls apart. Let me explain something about Guitar Hero. Personally Medium mode is too easy. You only use 4 buttons and it never gets to complex. Hard is where I normally stay as it uses all the buttons and it only has some difficult parts, most that are attainable by practice. Expert is a mode i dabbled in but wasn’t to good as it requires…. expert skill at the game.

Now this year Medium mode is fun, but hard mode is riduclous. I got very very far in GH2 on expert but I doubt I’ll even try it as it just gets to a point where you hand will fall off and start having spasms on the floor. Yes hard mode is meant to be hard, it always has done but they’ve started turning hard mode into expert mode. expert mode this year must be insane.

I suppose me being crap at the game isn’t a good reason for me to not like this game. Actually thats a lie… I don’t hate this game, I love it. It has more songs that I like and thats all you want from a Rhythm Game’s Sequel. But they’ve also added Boss Battles, Why? Not only is the last one very very hard but now you have the instance of luck due to the random power ups. Not only that but it does take you away from the I’m in a band and put you in the I’m in a band, but I’m also in hell having a guitar duel against the devil……

Co-Op career is a good addition. Wait no its not, it means you have to play on a controller or pay Activision some more money to buy another guitar. I’ve only played this with a friend and a controller as a fair chunk of the songs that I wanted from this game are hidden in the Co-Op Career. I had to play bass on easy mode on a controller so I could play Bloc Party on exper.

Guitar Hero 3 is a good game, but everything that Neversoft have added takes away from the enjoyment. But it is still a good game, Buy it on ebay for under £30 if you don’t want a wireless guitar.

Just expect Rock Band to be a breath of fresh air.

15 Years of Raw

This is a Work In Progress but I think its gonna look pretty nice, I’ve made a lot of changes since I made this jpeg.

Let me know what you guys think. The idea comes from the fact that Raw is 15 years old. People make scrapbooks for events and history etc…. It looks weird considering what its for. Also thanks to dave, emily or emma for that graph paper scan :)

I’m also testing out the whole flickr/blog sexyness that it can do.

I’m impressed.

I’ve been looking for a remix of a song for a while now. If you must know its Does It Offend You, Yeah? remixing The Raconteurs hit ‘Steady As She Goes’. It was interesting to say the lest but I stumbled upon this nice site. For a while if I wanted a song, instead of polluting my PC with horrible spyware ridden file share programs, I used Search The Beat (For individual Tracks) and Dancing Jesus (for Albums and rares).

Move over search the beat, Welcome to FilesTube. It looks pretty good, I found what I wanted pretty fast on it and you can search for all types of files. Still its illegal and it has blatant rip-offery of the YouTube logo. Despite that have fun with it.

Oh Yeh I will do an actual post about real world stuff soon. Guitar Hero 3 is real world stuff yeah?
